Dr. Darcie McGonigle was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan and obtained her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2006. She continued at the UofS and completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Saskatoon site in 2009 (with a maternity leave squeezed in there!).
Dr. McGonigle worked for a brief time at the Academic Family Medicine unit at West Winds in Saskatoon before moving to Ile-a-la Crosse, Saskatchewan in 2010. Since then, she has been living and working there as a full-scope family physician doing ER, acute care, primary care, long-term care, and fly-in clinics. She is also an assistant professor and teaches a wide range of learners with the hope that they will fall in love with rural family medicine! Dr. McGonigle is the current Rural Director of Education (North) with the Department of Academic Family Medicine.
Darcie enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, and her dog, especially if it involves a canoe or cross country skis.
