During this 3-day course, you will learn:
- keys to an efficient orthopedic history
- ‘high yield’ physical exam tips, including a ‘hands-on’ exam review
- MSK management principles
- tips to identify ‘red flag’ patients
- indications for further investigations and referral
- how to perform various joint injections, including ‘hands-on’ practice with models
- practical, office-based immobilization options
CASTED: Primary Care combines 2-days of practical, case-based lectures with a separate 3rd day of ‘hands-on’ stations to review orthopedic principles and management in the context of a family doctor’s office.
Day 1 is synchronous online (with 60 days’ access to the recordings). Choose from Tues May 27 or Wed Sep 10 (or just watch the recordings on your own time).
Day 2 is online and asynchronous. 60 days’ access to watch at your leisure. One lecture at a time or binge the day!
Through these online cases, you will learn a proper approach to Primary Care MSK complaints.
Day 3 is the hands-on day in Regina on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Here, you are reminded of the principles, and get hands-on practice with joint injections, and physical exam review and practice. Plus, you get to refine points learned from the earlier sessions.
It is possible to do Days 1 and 2 on your time and in pieces – and Day 3 (hands-on) is the only day you need to book off clinic to attend.
We think synchronous learning helps it stick better – but we also appreciate how busy everyone is and that access is challenged when too restrictive.
You will learn a much better approach to MSK medicine and feel more confident with a large component of Primary Care.
