The Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians unveils its renewed approach to family medicine Advocacy

[SASKATOON, SK — September 18, 2026] — The Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians (SCFP) welcomed its members today to the Annual Members Meeting, where SCFP unveiled its refreshed approach to advocating for family medicine across Saskatchewan.

SCFP is pleased to announce that Dr. Jason Hosain as officially begun his term as President. Dr. Hosain follows the outgoing Dr. Darcie McGonigle, who will continue to serve the organization as Past President. Dr. Hosain and McGonigle will continue to reflect SCFP’s commitment to supporting family physicians and advancing family medicine across the province.

The Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians also recognizes Dr. Andries Muller who has completed a remarkable 15 years of service on the SCFP board as well as his service as Past President. Dr. Muller’s efforts in previously leading the organization and his continued efforts in advocacy have been critical in driving family medicine forward.

As the SCFP begins a new year, the organization has introduced updated branding as well as a new long term Strategic Plan to ensure that SCFP remains at the forefront of leading primary care in Saskatchewan. Building upon the engagement of members of the SCFP, the Strategic Plan will outline a pathway for SCFP to address both challenges like tackling the workforce shortage and administrative burdens, as well as opportunities like those presented by team-based care and technology.

The Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians extends its appreciation to all members who attended the annual Family Medicine Conference and participated in the Annual Members Meeting, and to the physicians and volunteers who continue to contribute their time and expertise to family medicine in Saskatchewan.
